New Voices of Egypt was born from a desire to look at contemporary Egyptian art through the artists themselves - through their individual ways of seeing, feeling and interpreting the world. Egypt has an extraordinary artistic heritage, but its cultural identity does not belong only to the past. Today, a new generation of Egyptian artists is creating its own visual language, responding to the world around them and exploring questions that are deeply personal, yet often universal. For this project, we selected 16 artists whose works caught our attention through their individuality, emotional depth and distinctive artistic character. We carefully chose two works by each artist - 32 artworks that, in our view, best represent the diversity of voices we encountered. There was no intention to create a uniform exhibition. On the contrary, we wanted to preserve the differences between the artists. Their works vary in style, technique, mood and subject matter, and this diversity is an essential part of the project. Some of the artists turn towards Egyptian culture and heritage, reinterpreting familiar images, symbols and ideas through a contemporary perspective. Others speak through personal memories, emotions, relationships, dreams or observations of everyday life. Some works are quiet and contemplative, while others are expressive, energetic or deliberately challenging. What connects these different approaches is not a particular style, but the presence of an individual voice. As a gallery, we believe that discovering an artist begins with recognising something authentic in their work - a way of seeing that could belong to no one else. New Voices of Egypt is our attempt to bring these individual voices together and allow them to enter into a wider international conversation. We also wanted to look beyond the image of Egypt that is most familiar to the international audience. Ancient monuments and historical heritage are an inseparable part of the country's identity, but contemporary Egypt is also being shaped by the people who live and create there today. Their experiences, questions, memories and dreams form another important part of the story of Egypt. Through this exhibition, we invite viewers to discover that story. Each of the 32 works offers a different point of entry. Some may immediately attract the eye; others may reveal themselves more slowly. Some speak about Egypt directly, while others communicate through emotions and experiences that can be understood regardless of geography or culture. For us, this is what makes contemporary art meaningful - its ability to create a connection between an artist's personal world and the experience of another person. New Voices of Egypt is therefore not an attempt to define contemporary Egyptian art. It is an invitation to discover its many directions. Sixteen artists. Thirty-two works. Sixteen individual voices. And behind each voice is an artist who is still developing, searching, experimenting and finding their place within the contemporary art world.
