Biography

Mohamed Taha (b. 2002, Saudi Arabia) is a Sudanese digital artist based in Khartoum, Sudan. Entirely self-taught, he developed his artistic practice through independent exploration of digital media, using experimentation as both a technical and conceptual foundation. His early relocation from Saudi Arabia to Sudan profoundly shaped his understanding of place, identity, and cultural belonging—subjects that continue to inform his work. Alongside his artistic practice, Mohamed Taha studies Psychology and French Language at the Faculty of Arts, University of Khartoum.

Working primarily in digital painting, Mohamed Taha documents the rhythms of everyday Sudanese life, transforming ordinary moments into emotionally resonant visual narratives. Through layered compositions, cinematic lighting, and immersive atmospheric color, his works elevate fleeting experiences into reflections on memory, resilience, and collective identity.

The ongoing conflict in Sudan has become a defining influence on his recent practice. In response, his work has evolved from quiet observation into an act of cultural preservation, recording the beauty, traditions, and humanity that persist despite displacement and uncertainty. As an emerging voice in contemporary digital art, Mohamed Taha continues to build a body of work that celebrates the endurance of everyday life while preserving the visual memory of a culture under threat.

Artist Statement

I create digital paintings that explore the everyday life and cultural landscape of Sudan, transforming ordinary moments into images that speak to memory, identity, and resilience. Working digitally allows me to construct layered compositions and manipulate light, atmosphere, and color with immediacy, creating scenes that balance documentary observation with emotional depth.

Color is central to my visual language. A foundation of luminous pinks, purples, and blues creates immersive spaces where familiar environments take on an almost cinematic presence. Rather than depicting events as they appear, I seek to reveal the emotional atmosphere surrounding them—the quiet moments, gestures, and encounters that often pass unnoticed but collectively define a culture.

My perspective has been shaped by moving from Saudi Arabia to Sudan during childhood, an experience that made me deeply aware of place and belonging. More recently, the war in Sudan has transformed my artistic purpose. What began as an exploration of everyday life has become an act of preservation. Through my paintings, I document fragments of a world that is rapidly changing, safeguarding memories of people, traditions, and places whose existence is increasingly fragile.

I hope my work encourages viewers to look beyond narratives of conflict and discover the humanity that endures within ordinary life. By inviting moments of stillness and reflection, I aim to create images that honor the resilience of the Sudanese people while reminding us that culture, memory, and beauty remain powerful forms of resistance.
