Two Sisters
by Mona Omar
Two Sisters explores the quiet strength of a bond between two women who do not need to share the same path in order to remain connected. The sisters stand close to one another, their gazes directed in different directions, yet their physical and emotional proximity suggests an unspoken sense of trust, understanding, and mutual support. Inspired by the emotional memory of relationships, the painting does not attempt to capture a specific moment or portrait, but rather the feeling of knowing that someone will remain beside you through change and uncertainty. The figures gradually dissolve into expressive brushstrokes and layered marks, reflecting the way memories of loved ones become fragmented and transformed over time while their emotional presence remains. Monochromatic and muted passages are interrupted by vivid pink, blue, and fluorescent yellow, creating emotional flashes within the composition and giving the painting a distinctive tension between restraint and intensity. The contrast between the sisters' different directions and their shared presence becomes a metaphor for individuality within a lasting relationship - we may grow, change, and follow different paths, yet still carry the certainty of having someone by our side. As the artist writes, "Sometimes, we don't need to look in the same direction... it is enough to know that someone is standing by our side. We will continue to support one another..." Executed in mixed media on canvas, Two Sisters will appeal to collectors drawn to contemporary figurative painting, emotional narratives, and works exploring family bonds, memory, and human connection. Its strong vertical composition and combination of deep charcoal, cool blue, and vivid fluorescent pink make it particularly suited to contemporary, minimalist, industrial, or modern interiors, where it can serve as a distinctive emotional focal point. Dimensions: 50 x 70 cm. The artwork will be carefully packed and shipped flat in a protective box.
