At the centre of the composition is a fragmented, doll-like figure with distressed features and handmade clothing. Her appearance evokes a child transformed into a role that has been imposed upon her - expected to become a wife before she has had the opportunity to fully experience childhood, make her own choices, or shape her own future.The work combines a children's mask, raised and textured elements, leather, foam, felt, hand-crafted Rasta yarn and painted surfaces. These contrasting materials create a tactile, deliberately fragmented figure, reinforcing the sense of vulnerability and disruption. The doll becomes a powerful metaphor for children whose lives are shaped by decisions made for them, rather than with them.The surrounding symbols and handmade details deepen the work's emotional tension, placing the figure between childhood and an adulthood imposed too early. Through this visual language, the artist draws attention to the psychological and social consequences of early marriage and invites the viewer to consider a fundamental question: what happens to a child's right to grow, choose and imagine a future of their own?Rather than presenting the subject as a distant social issue, Early Marriage makes it intimate and human, asking the viewer to see the child behind the role and to recognise the childhood that should never have been taken away.
