Reassembled Self
What remains of us after life has changed us forever? This artwork invites the viewer to reflect on that question alongside the artist. Part of my ongoing series The Shape of Resilience, it is created through a three-layer process. A vibrant acrylic portrait celebrates identity, emotion, and individuality. The painted surface is then physically torn apart and carefully reconstructed, leaving black spaces that become a visual metaphor for transformation rather than loss. Finally, delicate cotton threads connect selected fragments, symbolizing the invisible bonds of memory, hope, and human connection that continue to exist even when we no longer feel whole. Blending contemporary figurative painting with mixed-media techniques, this original artwork explores identity, resilience, and transformation through expressive colour, physical reconstruction, and tactile texture. Ideal for collectors of contemporary conceptual art and for modern, minimalist, or gallery-inspired interiors.Original artwork. Acrylic on heavyweight paper with cotton thread. Size: 25 × 35 cm.
