God Aten and The Nature

by Rehab Telawy

abstract Mixed Media - mosaic, pebbles, stone, gold leaf, sand and gypsum 50/50/5 cm, 19,6/19,6 inches 2025
$1000.00

God Aten and The Nature explores the relationship between the divine, nature and the human connection to the ancient Egyptian worldview. The work draws inspiration from the worship of Aten, the sun disk associated with light, life and the sustaining forces of nature, while interpreting these ideas through a contemporary mixed-media language.Rather than reproducing ancient Egyptian art, the artist reinterprets its visual vocabulary through geometric structures, symbolic forms and a carefully balanced composition. The three golden hands extending towards the centre suggest a relationship between humanity, the divine and the natural world, while the plant emerging between them becomes a symbol of life, growth and continuity. The composition combines mosaic fragments, pebbles, stone, sand and gypsum, creating a tactile surface that connects the artwork directly with natural materials. Gold leaf introduces luminosity and carries associations with the sacred, eternal light and the divine. The earthy palette of brown, beige, grey, muted green and gold further reinforces the connection between the work and the landscape and material culture of ancient Egypt.Through the contrast between fragmented stone and the organic forms of nature, God Aten and The Nature brings together material and spirit, ancient symbolism and contemporary abstraction. The work reflects the artist's interest in the continuity of ancient Egyptian consciousness and its ability to inspire new artistic interpretations in the present. 50 x 50 cm | Mixed media - mosaic, pebbles, stone, gold leaf, sand and gypsum
