Luxor Temple
Luxor Temple captures the timeless grandeur of one of ancient Egypt's most remarkable monuments. Rising against a deep blue sky, the massive sandstone columns of the temple are illuminated by the warm light of the setting sun, revealing their monumental scale and weathered beauty. The interplay of golden ochre, earthy brown and cool grey tones creates a striking contrast between the ancient stone architecture and the luminous evening sky. The quiet courtyard and monumental pillars invite the viewer to imagine the generations who have passed through this sacred place, leaving behind traces of a civilisation that continues to inspire wonder.Created in the studio after sketches made on location during the winter of 2021, the painting combines the immediacy of direct observation with the considered atmosphere of a studio composition. The artist uses the wet-on-dry watercolour technique to achieve defined architectural forms while preserving the transparency and subtle tonal transitions characteristic of the medium.Original watercolour on Saunders Waterford paper, 100% cotton, 300 gsm, acid-free.
