Samar Hisham

ARTIST BIO
Samar Hisham is an Egyptian contemporary visual artist, born in 1998 and based in Mansoura, Egypt. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Arabic Language from Mansoura University and has developed her artistic practice independently.
Since 2023, Hisham has focused on relief art, acrylic painting and mixed media, combining abstract impressionist approaches with highly tactile, sculptural surfaces. Working primarily with acrylics and heavy impasto paste on canvas, wood and linen, she builds layered compositions in which texture becomes an essential part of the visual language.
At the centre of Hisham's practice is an interest in intangible human experiences that are increasingly difficult to preserve in contemporary life - safety, sincerity, authentic connection and genuine giving. Through material, colour and relief, she seeks to transform these invisible emotional states into something physical and perceptible.
Her ongoing practice explores the relationship between inner emotional experience and the material world, while her developing work is expanding towards broader ideas of freedom, beauty and human connection.
ARTIST STATEMENT
"My art translates intangible emotions into tangible forms, making distant dreams and abstract meanings visible, felt, and real."
My artistic practice explores emotions that are deeply human yet increasingly difficult to experience in a superficial and rapidly changing contemporary world. I am interested in qualities such as safety, sincerity, authentic giving and genuine connection - experiences that may be invisible, but have a profound emotional presence in our lives.
I translate these intangible states into material forms through relief art, using texture as both a visual language and a metaphor for emotional experience. Heavy impasto paste and acrylic paint are built layer by layer on canvas, wood and linen, creating sculptural surfaces that invite the viewer to experience the work not only visually, but physically.
Each body of work develops around a particular emotional or conceptual narrative. Through abstraction, colour, form and texture, I create spaces where feelings can exist beyond words and where viewers can connect the work with their own experiences.
Ultimately, my work is an attempt to make the invisible visible - to give physical presence to emotions, dreams and connections that are difficult to define, while exploring the possibility of depth, peace and genuine human connection.
