Artist Bio Marinelle is a contemporary artist based in Hurghada, Egypt, whose practice is deeply connected to the sea and the distinctive landscapes of the Red Sea coast. Born in Egypt, Marinelle draws inspiration from the turquoise waters, shifting light, sandy shores and distant horizons surrounding her home. Her paintings explore the quiet emotional presence of the sea - its movement, reflections, changing colours and moments of stillness. Working primarily with painting, she creates atmospheric seascapes that combine careful observation of nature with a personal, expressive approach to light and colour. Her works invite the viewer to pause, breathe and experience the sense of freedom and calm found beside the water. Living and working in Hurghada, Marinelle continues to develop a body of work inspired by the Red Sea and its ever-changing character. Artist Statement The sea is my constant source of inspiration. Living in Hurghada, I am surrounded by the Red Sea every day. Its colours are never the same. The water changes with the light, the wind and the time of day - from deep blue and turquoise to silver, emerald and almost transparent tones. I paint these moments because they carry something beyond the landscape itself. A reflection of sunlight on the water, a distant sail, a quiet shoreline or the meeting of sea and sky can create a feeling of stillness that is difficult to describe in words. My seascapes are based on direct observation of the Red Sea, but they are not intended simply as realistic representations of particular places. Through colour, light and brushwork, I try to capture the atmosphere and emotion of being beside the water. For me, painting the sea is a way of preserving fleeting moments - the light that lasts only for a few minutes, the movement of the waves, and the feeling of standing before an open horizon. My paintings are an invitation to slow down, look closer and feel the quiet presence of the sea.
